Olivet

Olivet is a town in the Loiret department, located just south of Orléans, shaped by the River Loiret that runs through it. The town has a long-standing connection to watercress farming, a market-gardening tradition that has left its mark on local history, alongside several water mills still standing along the riverbanks. The shaded, green banks of the Loiret are ideal for walking or cycling, with routes linking the town to the wider cycling network of the Loire Valley. Olivet also retains a tradition of riverside guinguettes, relaxed open-air venues long favoured for their laid-back atmosphere. Its close proximity to Orléans provides easy access to the city's historic centre, cathedral and Loire quaysides, while offering a quieter, more residential setting. The climate is temperate oceanic, with mild summers and moderate winters typical of the Loire Valley.
