Hopfgarten im Brixental

Hopfgarten im Brixental is a village in the Austrian Tyrol, set in the Brixental valley at the foot of the Kitzbühel Alps. It forms part of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental ski area, one of the largest in Austria, making it a popular winter destination with extensive slopes linking several neighbouring villages. A cable car provides access to the summit of the Hohe Salve, offering panoramic views over the Tyrolean Alps and used both in winter and summer for hiking and mountain biking. The side valley of Kelchsautal, reached from Hopfgarten, offers quieter trails amid well-preserved farmland scenery. The village retains a traditional Tyrolean character, with painted house façades and its parish church. The local economy is still shaped by mountain farming and dairy production alongside tourism. The alpine climate, with snowy winters and mild summers, supports year-round visits, combining winter sports with outdoor summer activities.
