St ay

Saint-Ay is a commune in the Loiret département, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, situated on the banks of the Loire river just a few kilometres west of Orléans. The village enjoys a peaceful setting typical of the Loire Valley, nestled between the river and the surrounding farmland. Its riverside location makes it easy to access the well-known “Loire à Vélo” cycle route, popular for exploring the valley at a leisurely pace, taking in riverbanks, villages and vineyard landscapes along the way. Saint-Ay's position also makes it a convenient base for visiting Orléans, with its cathedral and historic centre, as well as the many châteaux of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site, all while staying in a quieter setting away from the city. The climate is a modified oceanic type, with mild to warm summers and relatively gentle winters, well suited to outdoor activities for much of the year. The wider region is also known for its Loire wines and local gastronomy, both worth exploring in the surrounding area.
