Mardie

Mardie is a village in the Loiret department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, located a few kilometres east of Orléans, along the banks of the Loire river. Its surroundings stretch between the river and the Forêt d'Orléans, one of France's largest state-owned forests, offering a pleasant natural setting for walking, cycling or leisurely strolls. The nearby Loire allows visitors to enjoy the typical landscapes of the Loire Valley, part of which is UNESCO World Heritage listed, with its riverbanks, sandbanks and varied wildlife. The village retains a rural, residential character while benefiting from the proximity of Orléans for shops, services and transport links. The Centre-Val de Loire region is also well known for its historic castles and vineyards, all easily reached by car from Mardie. The climate is a mild oceanic type, with moderately warm summers and gentle winters, typical of the wider Paris basin. Mardie therefore makes a quiet base from which to explore the Loiret, combining riverside nature, woodland and easy access to the cultural and touristic attractions of the Orléans area.
