Donnery

Donnery is a village in the Loiret department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, located around fifteen kilometres east of Orléans. It sits on the edge of the Forêt d'Orléans, one of the largest woodland areas in the Paris basin, and close to the Canal d'Orléans, making it a pleasant starting point for walks and cycling through peaceful wooded surroundings. The area enjoys a mild oceanic climate, with moderately warm summers and gentle winters typical of the Loire Valley. Its location makes it easy to reach Orléans, a historic city known for its Sainte-Croix Cathedral and its connections to Joan of Arc, as well as several Loire Valley châteaux within about an hour's drive. The surrounding countryside remains largely rural, dotted with forests, ponds and waterways, offering a restful setting away from city life. Donnery therefore serves as a quiet base for exploring both the region's architectural heritage and its natural landscapes, while remaining conveniently close to major regional routes and the city of Orléans itself.
