Saint-Germain-Laprade is a village in the Haute-Loire department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, located just a few kilometres east of Le Puy-en-Velay. It lies within the volcanic landscape of the Velay plateau, known for its distinctive basalt peaks and hills, at an altitude of around 800 metres. The climate is semi-continental, with cool winters and mild summers, typical of the mid-mountain areas of the Massif Central. Its proximity to Le Puy-en-Velay provides easy access to the town's notable landmarks, including Notre-Dame Cathedral, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site along the pilgrim routes to Santiago de Compostela, and the striking Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe chapel perched atop a volcanic outcrop.
