St julien chapteuil

Saint-Julien-Chapteuil is a village in the Haute-Loire department, in the Velay area of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, around fifteen kilometres from Le Puy-en-Velay. Set at the foot of the volcanic peaks that define the local landscape, notably Mont Mézenc and Mont Meygal, the village is crossed by the Sumène river. Its altitude and mountainous surroundings give it a cool climate, with pronounced winters typical of the Massif Central. The village has retained traditional stone architecture built from volcanic rock, with a church and old houses forming a characterful centre. The area is popular for walking and hiking, particularly on trails leading to the surrounding peaks, as well as for exploring the volcanic scenery of the Velay.
