Lantriac

Lantriac is a small village in the Haute-Loire department, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, set in the Velay area on the banks of the River Loire, not far from its source in the Mézenc massif. The village enjoys an unspoilt rural setting, amid volcanic plateaux and green valleys typical of this part of France. Le Puy-en-Velay, known for its cathedral, the Notre-Dame de France statue and its listed old town, lies around twenty minutes away, making Lantriac a convenient base for exploring the wider area. The surrounding countryside is well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking along the Loire gorges, fishing, cycling and discovering basalt landscapes shaped by Auvergne's volcanic past. Local produce includes the Puy green lentil, an AOP product emblematic of the Velay, alongside regional cheeses and cured meats. The semi-mountainous climate brings relatively mild summers and colder winters, reflecting the area's altitude.
