St julien des chazes

Saint-Julien-des-Chazes is a small village in the Haute-Loire department, within the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, nestled in the Allier gorges between Langeac and Prades. This unspoilt natural setting features mid-mountain landscapes where the River Allier winds between cliffs and wooded slopes, providing an excellent base for walking, fishing and canoeing enthusiasts. The scenic Cévennes railway line runs through this valley, offering picturesque views of the surrounding countryside from the train. The village retains an authentic rural character, with traditional stone-built houses typical of the region. Haute-Loire is also known for its Romanesque heritage, with numerous churches and chapels scattered throughout the area, as well as for local specialities such as Le Puy green lentils, grown on the nearby plateaux.
