Gaschurn

Gaschurn is a mountain village in the Montafon valley in Vorarlberg, western Austria. Sitting at around 1,000 metres above sea level, it forms part of the Silvretta Montafon ski area, one of the largest in Vorarlberg, well regarded for slopes connecting to neighbouring villages such as Gargellen and Sankt Gallenkirch. In winter, the resort draws skiers and ski tourers, while summer brings a broad network of hiking trails leading up to the high plateaus and the Vermunt and Silvretta reservoirs, reachable via the Silvretta High Alpine Road, known for its views over the surrounding glaciers. The village retains a traditional character, with timber chalets typical of Vorarlberg architecture. The wider Montafon region is also known for local craftsmanship and mountain dairy products. Gaschurn serves as a convenient base for exploring the Silvretta Alps, offering a mix of outdoor sport, unspoilt nature and alpine traditions that remain part of everyday local life.
