Pouligny-St-Pierre

Pouligny-Saint-Pierre is a small village in the Indre department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, lying on the edge of the Brenne Regional Nature Park, often nicknamed the 'land of a thousand ponds'. The village is best known for lending its name to an AOC goat's cheese, easily recognised by its truncated pyramid shape, which has been produced in this part of the Berry region for centuries. The peaceful, green countryside is well suited to outdoor pursuits such as walking, cycling and birdwatching around the nearby Brenne ponds. Close by, the Creuse valley and the town of Argenton-sur-Creuse, often referred to as the 'Venice of Berry', add further picturesque appeal to the area. Fontgombault Abbey, one of the region's most significant religious sites, is also within reasonable reach.
