Cuzion

Cuzion is a small rural village in the Indre department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, close to the Creuse valley and not far from Lake Éguzon, formed by the Chambon dam. This area, sometimes referred to as the 'Valley of the Painters' due to its appeal to Impressionist artists in the late 19th century, particularly around Crozant and Fresselines, offers an unspoilt natural setting of wooded hills, hedgerowed meadows and rivers. The village retains a strong agricultural character, typical of the Bas-Berry region, with scattered hamlets and understated rural heritage. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking, cycling and exploring local history, while Lake Éguzon, just a short drive away, offers watersports and swimming during the summer months. The wider area remains largely untouched by mass tourism, favouring a quieter, nature-based approach to visiting. Cuzion therefore makes a peaceful base from which to explore the southern Indre and the neighbouring Creuse borderlands, combining scenic landscapes with genuine Berry countryside traditions.
