Le blanc

Le Blanc is a town in the southern Indre department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region, straddling the River Creuse, which divides the town into two districts linked by several bridges. It serves as a gateway to the Brenne Regional Nature Park, known as the 'land of a thousand lakes', popular for birdwatching and its scenery of ponds and woodland. The town features the remains of Naillac Castle, whose towers overlook the valley, along with a national canoe-kayak centre that makes use of the Creuse for water sports. The town centre retains an old quarter with narrow streets and traditional Berry-style houses, and a regular market brings life to the area. The surrounding countryside offers walking and cycling routes, including paths connecting the lakes of the Brenne. The climate is a degraded oceanic type, with mild winters and moderately warm summers. Le Blanc makes a convenient base for exploring both the natural heritage of the Brenne and the architectural heritage of the Berry region, set within a quiet, rural landscape away from major urban centres.
