Taxenbach

Taxenbach is a municipality in the Austrian state of Salzburg, located in the district of Zell am See, in the heart of the Pinzgau region. The village stretches along the Salzach valley, at the foot of the surrounding Alpine ranges, within a typically mountainous Austrian landscape. Its location makes it a gateway to the Rauris Valley and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road, one of Austria's best-known mountain routes, as well as to the Hohe Tauern National Park, the country's largest protected area. The surrounding countryside is well suited to outdoor pursuits, with hiking in summer and skiing or other winter sports available at nearby resorts such as Zell am See and Kaprun, both easily reached from Taxenbach. The Salzach valley also offers pleasant walks along the river and access to unspoilt Alpine scenery. The mountain climate, with mild summers and snowy winters, supports year-round tourism, ranging from quiet countryside stays to excursions into the surrounding peaks.
