Turracher Höhe

Turracher Höhe is a mountain pass located at 1,763 metres above sea level, on the border between Carinthia and Styria, within the Nockberge range, which is designated as a biosphere reserve. The area is known for its two mountain lakes, the Turracher See and the Schwarzsee, surrounded by coniferous forests and pastureland typical of this pre-Alpine region. It is home to one of Austria's oldest winter sports resorts, offering alpine ski slopes suited to all levels, with the skiing area reaching up to the Kornock peak via a panoramic cable car providing views over the surrounding summits. In summer, the location serves as a popular starting point for hiking and mountain biking, thanks to a network of trails crossing the rounded landscapes characteristic of the Nockberge. The mid-mountain climate, with snowy winters and mild summers, supports year-round tourism. The peaceful setting and close proximity to nature make it a favoured destination for stays centred around outdoor activities, away from urban bustle.
