Zell am Ziller

Zell am Ziller is a village in the Austrian Tyrol, nestled in the Zillertal valley along the Ziller river and surrounded by alpine peaks often exceeding 2,000 metres. The town serves as a gateway to the Zillertal Arena ski area, popular in winter for its varied slopes and modern facilities. In summer, the region is well suited to hiking, mountain biking and excursions into the surrounding alpine pastures and mountain lakes. The village retains a traditional Tyrolean character, with typical timber architecture, colourful façades and a baroque church at its centre. Zell am Ziller is also known for its Gauderfest, a springtime folk festival linked to local alpine wrestling traditions and a special beer brewed for the occasion.
