Champfer

Champfer is a hamlet within the municipality of St. Moritz, located in the upper Engadine valley in the canton of Graubünden, between St. Moritz and Silvaplana. Sitting at roughly 1,800 metres above sea level, it lies along Lake Champfer, one of the small alpine lakes that dot this valley, known for its distinctive light and dry climate. The hamlet offers direct access to walking and cycling routes linking the surrounding villages, as well as to ski slopes and cross-country trails in winter, with the Engadine being one of Switzerland's premier destinations for Nordic skiing. Its proximity to St. Moritz means visitors can enjoy the shops, restaurants and sporting facilities of the resort while staying in a quieter, more residential setting. In summer, the shores of Lake Champfer provide opportunities for swimming, walking and gentle water sports such as paddleboarding and sailing. The region is also known for its pine and larch forests, views of the surrounding peaks, and an atmosphere that blends alpine tradition with international tourism, characteristic of the Graubünden area.
