Bever

Bever is a small village in the Engadin valley, in the Swiss canton of Graubünden, close to Samedan and St Moritz. Set in an Alpine valley at over 1,700 metres above sea level, it stands out for its traditional Engadin architecture, with old houses featuring the region's characteristic sgraffito façades. The village retains an authentic, peaceful character, away from the tourist bustle of its more famous neighbours. Bever is a popular starting point for summer walking, thanks to direct access to the Val Bever valley and trails leading towards the surrounding Alpine passes. In winter, its convenient location makes it easy to reach the ski areas of the Upper Engadin, including St Moritz and Celerina, while offering quieter accommodation. Bever's railway station, on the Rhaetian Railway line, makes it simple to explore the wider region without needing a car. The dry, sunny Alpine climate typical of the Upper Engadin, along with pine forests and surrounding peaks, make Bever well suited to a relaxed mountain stay combining nature and local heritage.
