Sankt Georgen am Kreischberg

Sankt Georgen am Kreischberg is a municipality in the Murau district of Styria, Austria, set at the foot of the Kreischberg mountain, which rises to around 1,981 metres. The village grew around the Kreischberg ski area, served by a cable car and known for its family-friendly slopes and terrain park, which hosted the FIS Snowboard World Championships in 2015. In winter, the resort benefits from reliable snowfall thanks to its alpine altitude and exposure. During the summer months, the mountain offers a network of hiking trails and mountain bike routes, with sweeping views across the Mur Valley (Murtal). The surrounding Murtal region is also home to the nearby town of Murau, well known for its traditional brewery, which is popular with visitors interested in craft beer. The climate is typically alpine, with cold, snowy winters and mild summers well suited to outdoor pursuits.
