Ollon

Ollon is a municipality in the canton of Vaud, located in the Chablais Vaudois region at the foot of the Alps, between the Rhône valley and the surrounding mountain ranges. The commune encompasses several villages and hamlets, including Chesières, Huémoz, Arveyes and the resort of Villars-sur-Ollon, known for its ski area linked to Gryon and Les Diablerets. The lower part of Ollon, closer to the valley floor, is characterised by viticulture, with vineyards producing AOC Chablais wines well regarded in the region. The nearby town of Aigle, known for its medieval castle and the Museum of the Vine and Wine, adds further cultural interest close by. In winter, Villars-sur-Ollon draws skiers and snowboarders thanks to its slopes and elevation, while summer months are well suited to hiking, mountain biking and enjoying alpine scenery. The contrast between the vineyards on the valley floor and the high-altitude pastures gives the municipality a notably varied landscape. Ollon therefore serves as a convenient base for exploring both the Chablais vineyards and the neighbouring alpine resorts.
