Gryon

Gryon is a mountain village in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, situated at around 1,100 metres above sea level in the hills above Bex, within the Vaud Alps. It forms part of the Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets ski area, one of the largest in French-speaking Switzerland, offering downhill skiing, cross-country trails and dedicated sledging areas in winter. In summer, the region is well suited to hiking and mountain biking, with easy access to surrounding alpine pastures and panoramic views over the Rhône valley and nearby peaks, including the Dents du Midi. The village retains an authentic character, with traditional chalets and a peaceful atmosphere set apart from the busier resort of Villars-sur-Ollon, to which it remains connected by cable car. Gryon is also known for its several hostels, popular with international travellers. The alpine climate brings snowy winters and mild summers, ideal for outdoor pursuits. The village makes a convenient base for exploring the Vaud Alps throughout the year, within an unspoilt natural setting.
