Ramsau am Dachstein

Ramsau am Dachstein is a municipality in Styria, Austria, lying at the foot of the Dachstein massif within the Schladming-Dachstein region. Spread across a sunny plateau, the village is known for its unspoilt alpine setting and serves as a gateway to the Dachstein glacier, reachable by cable car up to the Hunerkogel, where a suspended skywalk offers views over the surrounding peaks. Ramsau is particularly well known for cross-country skiing, with an extensive network of groomed trails in winter, as well as for Nordic combined and ski jumping, disciplines for which the village has internationally recognised facilities. The parish church, with the Dachstein rising behind it, is one of the region's most recognisable images. In summer, the plateau is well suited to walking, cycling and nature watching, with the area forming part of a designated biosphere reserve. The mountain climate, offering reliable snow cover in winter, makes it a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts as well as walkers during the summer months.
