Biberwier

Biberwier is a village in the Austrian Tyrol, located in the Reutte district at the foot of the Marienberg and close to the Fernpass mountain pass. It forms part of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena tourist region within the Zugspitze massif, not far from Ehrwald and Lermoos. The village is particularly known for its summer toboggan run (Sommerrodelbahn), one of the longest in Austria, stretching over 1,300 metres through the mountain forest. In winter, the Marienberg ski area offers slopes suited to families and beginners, with views over the surrounding peaks. The village retains traditional alpine architecture, with timber chalets and façades decorated in typical Tyrolean frescoes. In summer, Biberwier serves as a starting point for hikes towards the Fernpass and nearby lakes, as well as mountain biking excursions. The proximity of the Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak, visible from certain trails, adds to the area's scenic appeal. The mountain climate, with snowy winters and mild summers, supports a year-round tourism focused on nature and outdoor activities.
