Sankt Johann in Tirol

Sankt Johann in Tirol is a town in the Austrian Tyrol, located in the Kitzbühel district, just a few kilometres from the well-known resort of the same name. Nestled between the Wilder Kaiser and Kitzbüheler Horn mountain ranges, it enjoys a typical alpine setting at an altitude of around 660 metres. The town serves as a popular base for mountain holidays, both in winter, thanks to its ski area linked to Oberndorf, and in summer, offering hiking and mountain biking in the surrounding countryside. The town centre retains a traditional Tyrolean character, with colourful façades and a lively main square. The parish church of St John the Baptist, featuring baroque elements, is among the town's notable landmarks. Sankt Johann also benefits from good rail connections, with its station forming an important junction on the Tyrolean railway line, making it easy to reach both Innsbruck and Salzburg.
