Leogang

Leogang is a village in the Austrian state of Salzburg, located in the Pinzgau valley at the foot of the Leoganger Steinberge, a limestone massif popular with hikers and climbers. The village forms part of the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn ski area, one of Austria's largest, accessible from the Asitz summit. In summer, Leogang is well known for its bike park, a recognised venue for downhill and enduro mountain biking, complemented by an extensive network of hiking trails and via ferratas across the Steinberge. The village retains a traditional character, with typical alpine houses and a parish church, alongside modern tourist facilities suited to year-round stays. The region has a distinctly alpine climate, with snowy winters ideal for winter sports and mild summers well suited to outdoor pursuits. Leogang lies roughly an hour's drive from the city of Salzburg, making it a convenient base for combining mountain activities with cultural sightseeing. The wider Saalfelden-Leogang valley focuses on active tourism, balancing unspoilt nature with high-quality sporting facilities for visitors of all levels.
