Seeboden

Seeboden is a small town in the Austrian state of Carinthia, set on the northern shore of Lake Millstatt (Millstättersee), one of the largest and warmest lakes in the Austrian Alps. The town has direct access to the water, making it popular for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and fishing during the summer months. A lakeside promenade connects Seeboden to neighbouring towns, including Millstatt, the area's main tourist hub. The surrounding mountains, part of the Nockberge and Reisseck ranges, offer numerous hiking trails, while nearby ski resorts provide winter sport opportunities. The lake's moderating effect gives the area a comparatively mild climate, supporting year-round outdoor activities. Seeboden offers facilities suited to family holidays, including designated swimming areas, cycling paths and boat hire services. The town retains a quieter, more residential character compared with the livelier atmosphere of Millstatt, while sharing the same alpine setting of lake and mountains that defines this part of Carinthia.
