Telfs

Telfs is a town in the Austrian Tyrol, situated in the Inn Valley around 25 kilometres west of Innsbruck. Acting as a gateway to the Seefeld plateau and overlooked by the Hohe Munde peak, the town retains the character of a traditional Tyrolean market town while also supporting a more diverse economy than many neighbouring communities, with a number of craft and industrial businesses. Telfs is particularly known for the Schleicherlaufen, a traditional carnival procession held every five years, which is recognised as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. The town serves as a convenient base for hiking, notably towards the Hohe Munde, a landmark mountain in the region, as well as for access to nearby ski areas during the winter months.
