Öblarn

Öblarn is a village in Styria, located in the Enns valley (Ennstal) at the foot of the Lower Tauern range, within the district of Liezen. It serves as a gateway to the Sölktäler Nature Park, which encompasses the Kleinsölk and Großsölk valleys, known for hiking and unspoilt alpine scenery. The River Enns runs through the area, flanked by a regional cycle path linking several Ennstal villages and offering an easy, flat route suitable for families. In winter, Öblarn benefits from its proximity to the Schladming-Dachstein ski region, one of Austria's largest, roughly a twenty-minute drive away. The local architecture retains a traditional rural character, with timber farmhouses and chalets scattered across the surrounding hillsides. The economy has historically relied on mountain farming alongside seasonal tourism, both in summer and winter. The surrounding area also offers fishing and mid-altitude hiking towards the peaks of the Lower Tauern. Öblarn therefore makes a peaceful base for exploring alpine Styria, combining unspoilt nature with the tourist infrastructure of the Schladming-Dachstein region.
