Uttendorf

Uttendorf is a village in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg province, Austria, located at the entrance to the Stubachtal valley, not far from Zell am See and Kaprun. Surrounded by peaks within the Hohe Tauern National Park, it serves as a popular starting point for summer walks up to the Stubachtal's reservoir lakes, such as the Tauernmoossee and Weißsee, reachable by cable car from Enzingerboden. In winter, the village provides access to the Weißsee Gletscherwelt ski area, where glacier skiing is possible from as early as autumn. The village retains a traditional Pinzgau rural character, with timber-framed farmhouses and a parish church. The surrounding area also offers mountain biking, climbing and swimming in alpine lakes during the warmer months. Its proximity to Zell am See allows easy access to more developed tourist facilities, while Uttendorf itself remains a quieter, family-friendly base. The Grossglockner High Alpine Road, one of Austria's major scenic routes, lies within a reasonable distance too, making the village a convenient starting point for exploring the wider Hohe Tauern region.
