Radstadt

Radstadt is a small town in the Austrian province of Salzburg, set in the Enns valley at the foot of the Radstadt Alps and the Lower Tauern range. Its historic centre, still encircled by well-preserved medieval walls and towers, reflects its past as a fortified town along the old trade route linking Salzburg to Carinthia. The old town, with its colourful houses and parish church, is easily explored on foot. Radstadt forms part of the Ski amadé network, one of Austria's largest ski areas, providing direct winter access to slopes linking Altenmarkt and neighbouring resorts. In summer, the surrounding region is well suited to hiking at various altitudes, mountain biking and cycle touring, including along the Enns cycle path that runs through the valley. The alpine climate brings snowy winters ideal for winter sports and mild summers suited to outdoor pursuits. Its location near the Tauern Pass also makes Radstadt a convenient stopover between Salzburg and Styria. Altogether, it offers a balanced mix of local heritage and natural surroundings.
