Strobl

Strobl is a village in the Austrian state of Salzburg, located in the Salzkammergut region on the shores of Lake Wolfgangsee. The village enjoys a typical alpine lakeside setting, surrounded by mountains such as the Schafberg, reachable via a historic rack railway departing from the neighbouring village of St Wolfgang, known for its pilgrimage church and traditional architecture. Lake Wolfgangsee offers plenty of opportunities for water-based activities, including swimming, sailing, pedal boating and boat trips, while the surrounding hills and lakeside paths are well suited to hiking and cycling in summer, and cross-country skiing or winter walks during the colder months. Salzburg city, roughly an hour's drive away, makes for an easy cultural day trip to Mozart's birthplace.
