Bodensdorf

Bodensdorf is a village in Carinthia, Austria, situated on the northern shore of Lake Ossiach (Ossiacher See), one of the region's most popular lakes for swimming and water sports. Part of the municipality of Steindorf am Ossiacher See, it enjoys a natural setting typical of the southern Alps, nestled between the lake and the surrounding mountains. The area is known for its well-maintained beaches and swimming spots, as well as for sailing, paddleboarding and pedal boating, with the lake noted for its pleasantly warm water in summer. A cycle path circles the entire lake, offering a relaxed way to explore neighbouring villages such as Ossiach, Steindorf and Annenheim. Nearby stands the Gerlitzen mountain, reachable by cable car from Kanzelhöhe, which offers hiking routes in summer and skiing in winter, along with panoramic views over the Carinthian Alps and surrounding lakes. The town of Villach, with its shops and historic centre, is around a fifteen-minute drive away. Bodensdorf therefore makes for a peaceful base for holidays centred on nature, lake activities and mountain scenery.
