Nassereith

Nassereith is a village in the Austrian Tyrol, located in the Imst district at the foot of the Fernpass, the mountain pass connecting the Inn Valley to neighbouring Germany. Set within the Gurgltal valley and surrounded by classic Tyrolean peaks, the village offers a scenic alpine setting suited to year-round outdoor activities. In winter, the local ski area and the nearby Muttekopf massif provide opportunities for downhill skiing and other snow sports, while summer favours hiking and mountain biking along the surrounding trails. Nassereith is also known for its traditional carnival, the Schemenlaufen, a folk event held every five years and recognised as part of the region's intangible cultural heritage. The village lies close to the Fernsteinsee lake and to natural gorges that are notable for their landscapes. Its position makes it a strategic route between Tyrol and Germany, while also offering convenient access to neighbouring towns such as Imst and Telfs, as well as to Innsbruck, roughly an hour's drive away.
