Imst

Imst is a small town in the Austrian Tyrol, located in the Inn Valley, at the heart of its namesake district and close to the Ötztal and Pitztal valleys. Its historic centre retains the traditional character of a Tyrolean market town, with colourful houses and a parish church. The town is known for the Schemenlaufen, a traditional carnival recognised by UNESCO, held every four years and featuring masks and costumes rooted in ancient customs. The Rosengartenschlucht gorge, accessible via a well-maintained path running alongside rock faces and waterfalls, is a popular natural attraction for hikers. Imst also boasts a summer alpine toboggan run, one of the longest in Europe, drawing families and thrill-seekers alike.
