Rovensko pod Troskami

Rovensko pod Troskami is a small town in northern Bohemia, in the Liberec Region, right at the heart of the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj), the country's first national geopark. It is best known for its proximity to the ruins of Trosky Castle, whose twin basalt towers dominate the landscape just a few kilometres away. The town itself retains a historic square lined with arcaded burgher houses, reflecting its past as a regional trading centre. The area is also linked to a traditional craft of bobbin lace-making, still represented in local collections. The surrounding countryside offers excellent opportunities for walking and mountain biking, amid the sandstone rock formations typical of Bohemian Paradise, popular with climbers and nature lovers alike. The climate is temperate continental, with mild summers and cold winters suited to gentle seasonal outdoor pursuits. Rovensko pod Troskami makes a convenient base for exploring the castles, forests and picturesque villages of this part of Bohemia, while remaining within reasonable reach of both Prague and the nearby town of Turnov.
