Bozi Dar

Boží Dar is a small town in the Ore Mountains (Krušné hory), within the Karlovy Vary Region, right on the German border. Sitting at around 1,030 metres above sea level, it is regarded as the highest town in Central Europe, making it a popular base for winter sports. The nearby Klínovec resort, the highest peak in the Ore Mountains, offers alpine skiing and ski lifts, while the surrounding area boasts an extensive cross-country skiing network, one of the most developed in the region. In summer, the protected peatlands around Boží Dar, designated as a nature reserve, draw hikers and those interested in the local flora. The town retains a modest yet authentic architectural heritage, including a wooden church typical of the area. Its border location also makes it a convenient gateway to the neighbouring German towns of the Erzgebirge. The climate is distinctly mountainous, with long, snowy winters and cool summers, lending itself well to year-round nature tourism. The spa towns of Karlovy Vary and Jáchymov lie within a reasonable distance, adding further appeal to the wider region.
