Stárkov

Stárkov is a small town in the Hradec Králové region of eastern Bohemia, located in the Náchod district close to the Polish border. It lies within the hilly, wooded landscape of the Broumov region, known for its sandstone rock formations, including those at Adršpach and Teplice nad Metují, both under half an hour away by car. The climate is temperate continental, with mild summers and colder winters that make cross-country skiing popular locally. Stárkov retains a rural character, with a small historic centre and a parish church typical of villages in this part of Bohemia. The surrounding area mainly appeals to walkers and cyclists, thanks to a network of marked trails winding through forests and meadows. The nearby town of Broumov, known for its baroque monastery, along with easy access to the protected natural landscapes of the Broumovsko Nature Park, make Stárkov a quiet base for exploring this lesser-visited but genuine part of the Czech Republic, away from the bustle of larger cities.
