Police nad Metuji

Police nad Metují is a small town in north-eastern Bohemia, within the Hradec Králové region, set in the valley of the River Metuje near the Polish border. Its historic centre features a former Benedictine monastery and a square lined with traditional façades typical of this part of the country. The town mainly serves as a convenient base for exploring the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks, a striking sandstone formation shaped by erosion, reachable within about twenty minutes by car or via marked walking trails. The wider Broumov region, in which Police nad Metují sits, is known for its rolling landscapes, woodlands and opportunities for hiking and mountain biking, as well as for the baroque religious heritage scattered across surrounding villages. The climate is continental, with mild summers and cool winters well suited to outdoor pursuits. The town remains a quiet, off-the-beaten-track destination, offering unspoilt natural surroundings and easy access to the area's principal natural attractions.
