Broumovsko

Broumovsko is a region in north-eastern Bohemia, Czech Republic, bordering Poland, known for its striking sandstone landscapes shaped by erosion and its extensive forests. The town of Broumov, the historic centre of the area, is home to a Benedictine monastery dating back to the Middle Ages, along with an old town square lined with colourfully fronted houses. The region is also noted for its group of baroque churches designed by the Dientzenhofer architects, scattered across surrounding villages and representing a distinctive architectural style within Central Europe. The rock formations of Broumovsko, quieter than the nearby Adršpach-Teplice rocks, offer walking trails through cliffs, gorges and viewpoints over the Bohemian countryside. In winter, the region is suited to cross-country skiing and forest walks through snow-covered scenery, while summer favours hiking, cycling and exploring the local religious heritage.
