Fala

Fala is a small village in north-eastern Slovenia, situated on the banks of the Drava River, close to the city of Maribor and the Pohorje massif. The settlement is particularly known for its hydroelectric power station, one of the oldest in Slovenia, built in the early 20th century along the Drava. The surrounding landscape features wooded hills and a river valley typical of the Podravje region. The nearby Pohorje massif offers easy access to hiking trails and cycling routes, along with year-round outdoor activities. Maribor, Slovenia's second-largest city, lies just a few kilometres away, providing convenient access to shops, restaurants and cultural attractions, while Fala itself retains a peaceful, rural character. The wider area is also known for its winemaking tradition, with vineyard-covered slopes not far from the village. The continental climate brings warm summers and colder winters, making the Pohorje a popular spot for winter pursuits.
