Beilngries

Beilngries is a small town in Bavaria, in the Upper Franconia area, situated at the confluence of the River Altmühl and the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal, within the Altmühltal Nature Park. Its historic centre retains remnants of medieval town walls and half-timbered houses, giving it the character of a traditional fortified Bavarian town. The town is a popular starting point for cyclists, thanks to the Altmühltal cycle path that follows the river for many miles, as well as for gentle canoeing on calm waters.
