Attendorn

Attendorn is a small town in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia, valued for its natural surroundings and historic character. The town is particularly known for the Atta-Höhle, one of Germany's largest limestone caves, which draws visitors keen to explore its underground formations. Nearby, Lake Bigge (Biggesee) provides a pleasant setting for water sports, swimming and boat trips, as well as walks along its wooded shores. Attendorn's historic centre, with its market square and half-timbered houses, reflects its past as a Hanseatic town. Schnellenberg Castle, located on the outskirts, adds to the area's heritage appeal.
