Nordstrand

Nordstrand is a North Sea peninsula in the Nordfriesland district of Schleswig-Holstein, connected to the mainland by a causeway road. Reclaimed from the sea after the devastating medieval storm floods, the area is defined by its polder landscapes, green dikes and vast mudflats typical of the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The municipality comprises several villages and hamlets, including Süderhafen, home to a small harbour.
