Boltenhagen

Boltenhagen is a Baltic Sea resort in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, on the edge of Lübeck Bay. It's known for its wide, gently shelving sandy beach backed by dunes and a well-kept promenade, as well as for its pier, one of the longest on the German coast, which stretches far out into the sea and serves as a departure point for boat trips. The town retains its traditional status as a health resort (Kurort), offering spa treatments and thalassotherapy. Nearby, coastal woodland and low cliffs, particularly around Elmenhorst, provide pleasant walks along the shoreline. A few kilometres inland lies Bothmer Castle near the town of Klütz, a baroque palace and one of the few large stately homes in the region open to visitors. The Hanseatic towns of Wismar and Lübeck are within easy reach by car for a day trip. Boltenhagen remains a family-oriented, quiet destination geared towards seaside holidays and wellness breaks rather than nightlife.
