Pentewan

Pentewan is a small coastal village in Cornwall, a few miles south of St Austell. Its main attraction is Pentewan Sands, a wide sandy beach that stretches out at low tide and draws families for swimming and watersports. The village retains traces of its old harbour, once used to export china clay from the surrounding quarries, an industry that shaped the local economy during the 19th century. Today, Pentewan relies mainly on tourism, with several caravan parks and holiday sites located close to the beach. The surrounding area offers excellent walking along the South West Coast Path, which runs along the shoreline and links Pentewan to nearby villages such as Mevagissey. The renowned Lost Gardens of Heligan, a well-known subtropical garden, lie around two miles away, making for an easy day trip from the village. Cornwall's mild climate allows visitors to enjoy the area for much of the year, combining beaches, coastal paths and the typical rural landscapes of South West England.
