Hoxton

Hoxton is a district in north-east London, within the borough of Hackney and bordering Shoreditch. Once a largely industrial area, it underwent significant transformation from the 1990s onwards, as artists, galleries and creative studios moved into converted former warehouses. Hoxton Square remains the historic heart of the area, surrounded by bars, restaurants and small contemporary art galleries. The district is also known for its lively nightlife, with numerous pubs and clubs popular in the evenings, alongside a strong street food scene and independent cafés. Nearby streets, such as Kingsland Road, offer a mix of vintage shops, designer boutiques and well-regarded Asian restaurants. Well connected via nearby Underground and London Overground stations (Old Street, Hoxton), the area allows for quick access to central London while retaining a more alternative, creative atmosphere. Hoxton attracts both young professionals and fans of urban art, thanks to its many street murals and its distinctly contemporary, culture-focused character rooted in London's creative industries.
