Hinterzarten

Hinterzarten is a climatic health resort (Luftkurort) in the Black Forest, within the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district, close to Lake Titisee and the Feldberg massif, the highest peak in the region. The village is known for its ski jumping hill, the Adler-Skistadion, which hosts Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined World Cup events in winter. The town also has a long-established golf course, set within a scenic pine-forest setting. The wooded, mountainous surroundings make it a good base for hiking in summer and for cross-country and alpine skiing in winter, with easy access to the Feldberg slopes. The village centre retains a traditional character, with half-timbered houses and a parish church. Nearby, the Ravenna Gorge is a popular natural site for walks. Hinterzarten often serves as a starting point for exploring the Hochschwarzwald area, with its lakes, traditional farmhouses and rolling landscapes typical of the Black Forest region.
