Ulvila

Ulvila is a small town in the Satakunta region of western Finland, located right next to Pori. Set along the Kokemäenjoki River, it spans a fertile agricultural plain shaped by the river's course over centuries. Ulvila is among the oldest settlements in the country: during the Middle Ages, it served as an important port and trading centre on the Gulf of Bothnia, until the gradual silting of its harbour led to the rise of Pori from the 16th century onwards. Its 15th-century stone church still stands as a reminder of this early history. Today, Ulvila retains a residential and rural character, with farmland, riverbanks and a peaceful setting well suited to walking and fishing. The climate follows the typical Scandinavian pattern, with cold, snowy winters and mild, bright summers. Thanks to its proximity to Pori, residents and visitors enjoy easy access to shops, services and the coast, while still benefiting from a quieter, greener environment typical of the Satakunta countryside.
