Naantali

Naantali is a small coastal town in south-west Finland, in the Varsinais-Suomi region, close to Turku. It is best known for its old quarter of colourful wooden houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, which lines a lively summer marina. The town is also home to the Naantali Convent Church, a remnant of a medieval monastery, as well as Kultaranta, the official summer residence of the President of Finland, set within landscaped gardens. Naantali is particularly renowned for Moominworld, the theme park inspired by the Moomin stories, which draws many families each summer. The town is also a well-known spa destination, home to one of Finland's leading wellness resorts. Set within the Finnish archipelago, it serves as a starting point for boat trips to the many surrounding islands. The climate is moderated by the Baltic Sea, with mild summers well suited to sailing and water sports, and cold winters typical of the region.
