Kankaanpää

Kankaanpää is a small town in south-western Finland, in the Satakunta region, surrounded by extensive forests and numerous lakes typical of the Finnish landscape. The town is known locally for its rehabilitation centre, a nationally recognised institution, as well as for its art school, which contributes to the local cultural scene. The quiet, largely unspoilt natural surroundings make it well suited to outdoor pursuits such as forest walking, fishing on the nearby lakes, cycling along country roads in summer, and cross-country skiing or snowmobiling in winter, a season that typically runs from November to March with reliable snow cover. The humid continental climate brings mild, bright summers with long daylight hours thanks to the northern latitude, and harsh winters with temperatures often well below freezing.
